We are delighted to announce that Burnley Youth Theatre has been awarded a grant of £19,587 from Arts Council England’s Emergency Response Fund. The grant will help to sustain the organisation during this period of closure, meaning we are in a stronger position to continue our amazing work with children, young people and families across schools, communities and at the youth theatre once we are allowed to reopen.

Artistic Director / CEO Karen Metcalfe says “This funding has come at a crucial moment when many theatres and arts organisations are feeling the devastating impact of being closed for nearly 4 months due to Covid-19. We are delighted that Arts Council England have recognised the impact that our work has on local people and have invested in our future by granting us this money to cover our losses during this period. We cannot wait until we can reopen and welcome all of our dedicated participants, audiences, volunteers, staff and supporters back to Burnley Youth Theatre”
At present, our building remains closed but we are offering a varied online programme for our participants as well as developing new ways of working with schools and community groups in the future. We will continue to take guidance from the government and will reopen as soon as we can do so safely.
