Freelance Opportunity:  Creative Writing or Spoken Word Artist

Fee: Artist fee is £120 per half day.

Hours: 6 half day sessions (TBC)

Burnley Youth Theatre has received funding from the Cliviger Parish Fund to support an arts based storytelling project called ‘Writes of Passage’. The project is aimed at capturing community stories in the town of Cliviger and engaging children with community tales.

We are looking for a creative writing or spoken word artist to deliver activities to children aged 7-9 years to support their community storytelling project from January 2020 to March 2020.

The view is for the artist to deliver 6 half day sessions to year 3 and 4 class starting the week beginning 23rd January at the local primary school which will then culminate into a sharing event on World Book Day on Thursday 5th March.

The artist fee is £120 per half day.

Deadline for brief proposal:  Friday 1st November 2019

About Burnley Youth Theatre

Burnley Youth Theatre is a vibrant arts organisation that was initially established in 1973. Over the past 45 years, the organisation has grown significantly, we now operate from a purpose built theatre venue and our facilities include a 158 seat theatre, 3 studio spaces and 2 outdoor performance spaces.

Our core purpose is to engage young people and families in the creative arts. – Your experience in creative writing / spoken word

– Your experience engaging and working with Primary School Pupils.

 – A short proposal of what you would aim to deliver / create with the two classes (year 3 and year 4) over the 6 half day sessions.
