Be creative this summer! Take part in art, spoken word and graffiti workshops with industry experts and help contribute to a pop up exhibition exploring what home means to you!

Is BYT your happy place? Do you feel at home here? Have you made new friends whilst attending workshops? Have you been a participant for one season, taken part in a couple workshops or been a part of the BYT family for as long as you can remember…then this project is for you!! Explore why BYT means so much to so many people and contribute to its legacy through BEING CREATIVE this summer!

This is a FREE* project funded by Lancaster University and the Arts and Humanities Research Council as part of a project about young people and their experiences of Burnley Youth Theatre.

What to expect?

Join BYT practitioner Charly Ward, professional artists from across the North West and a group of like-minded young people to explore why BYT has been referred to as thousands of young people’s ‘Second Home’ over the years. This exciting 3 day project will answer questions like…what makes a home or how does a home make you feel? through a range of different art forms and will inform a pop-up exhibition which will go on tour later this summer.

We will be using BYT Archive such as photographs, scripts, videos, podcasts and much more as stimulus for our arts based research!

Monday – Art workshop with Emma Evans
Tuesday – Spoken Word workshops with Dominic Berry
Wednesday – Mural Workshop with Oskar

*This project is funded by Lancaster University and the Arts and Humanities Research Council as part of a project about young people and their experiences of Burnley Youth Theatre. By taking part all participants will contribute to this research.
