1982
Follow the yellow brick road back to 1982 when Moira Preston and Ruth Miller made 120 costumes for the first production of Wizard of Oz. Without a theatre of their own, The Wizard of Oz was performed at Towneley High School. Paul Abbott made the masks for the production which was directed by Mick Dawson. Michael Burnie played The Lion, Jayne Linton played Dorothy, Susan Barker played the Wicked Witch of the West and Anthony Dale
2016
Somewhere over the rainbow in 2016 Burnley Youth Theatre was in the wonderful land of Oz again. With a script devised by the cast and directed by Kat Osborn with assistance from Jess Milne and Oliver Daley.
2022
In 2022, we’re off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz for our winter production at Burnley Youth Theatre. Directed by Matthew Baker with the bold use of colour and the music of Kate Bush, it was a dazzling production. ‘A captivating production of a timeless classic with star performances’.
