Since Burnley Youth Theatre was established in 1973, volunteers have been a vital part of our team.
You do not need to know lots about the arts to get involved, as long as you’re passionate then you will fit right in.
We have volunteer opportunities in workshop, front of house, marketing and more!

Burnley Youth Theatre has received funding from the Cliviger Parish Fund (and the Scottish Power Renewables Community Benefit Fund) to deliver an arts based school project called ‘ Commemorating D-Day’ at a local primary school in the village of Cliviger, Burnley.
The aim of the project is to Explore World War 2 with pupils aged 4-11, understand their towns heritage in relation to the war and commemorate the D Day Landings 80th Anniversary. The project will start in January 2025 and will culminate in a community celebration event, which will be held on Wednesday 26th February 2025.
In preparation for this event, each class will work with different artists / practitioners leading up to this event to create an artistic outcome.
We are looking for a Music Practitioner to work with Reception Class and Year 5 pupils to create 2 pieces of music for the Commemorating D-Day event. In addition to this the practitioner could also explore war songs that were sung in the past with the pupils, engage the children with new instruments and or teach them some new music skills.
We require the practitioner to work with the two classes over 5 full days in January / February 2025. Preferably one day per week. There are approximately 25 pupils per class.
In addition to this, we require the practitioner to be available to support the groups on Wednesday 26th February 2025 for the school event.

We require the artist to work with the two classes over 5 full days in January / February (Year 4 in morning and Year 6 in afternoon) Preferably one day per week. There are approximately 25 pupils per class.
In addition to this, we require the artist to install the artwork created before the celebration community event on Wednesday 26th February 2025.
