Join us for our Double Bill Sharing to see ‘Promise, and ‘Toxic’ before both shows go out to tour schools around Lancashire.
‘PROMISE’
Directed by Kailey McGowan
Zara appears to be like any other 13 year old girl, she hangs out with her best friend Leah and always tries to skip sports day at school. She’s studying for her exams and planning sleepovers, but when Leah starts becoming cold and distant she finds herself suddenly confiding in her new friend Ash. He’s much older than Zara but seems to be the only one who understands what she’s going through, that is until everything begins to unravel and she learns that perhaps Ash isn’t who he says he is.
‘TOXIC’
Directed by Henry Blackburn
You know the feeling: The pressure to be the strongest, the loudest, the one who wins.
In the battle for Head Boy, best friends Leo, Jamie, and Ben find out exactly what happens when you let that pressure take over. As they trade honest conversations for calculated attacks, the lines blur between aspiration and aggression.
In this explosive new touring production, Toxic pulls no punches, exploring how the demands of UK school life can fuel harmful male stereotypes. It’s a rapid-fire exploration of competition, emotional suppression, and the devastating cycle of aggression that can take hold when boys feel they can’t be vulnerable.
